A: M3 would be a $60,000 - $70,000 car.(after options and tax) Usually, to be safe you shouldn't be spending half of your annual income on a car. But if you want to stretch and be stingy in other areas, you can purchase one for 2/3 of your income. Leasing it would be better, if you can get tax cuts and want to change it in few years. In general, I would say minimum $100,000. If you make $150,000, you can comfortably purchase it.

Does the e36 BMW M3 sports package (dinan kit) have more horsepower than a regular e36 M3? The one I found says sport package and then goes on to say it has a dinan horsepower kit. I am unfamiliar with this and was wondering what the benefit is.

A: Dinan is a great high end performance company, and the have done work on some BMWs. Im not sure how much horsepower, if any, the sport package would have. I would think that the "sport package" would have a better suspension setup, more than added horsepower.

Q: What determines the redline in the new BMW M3/M5/M6?
I have noticed that in every car model (M3, M5, M6) the redline is either at around 8400 like BMW always rags about, but then other times the redline is around 6500-7000. Anyone know what it is the causes the change?

A: Actually it's not that different. The 2007-spec M5 and M6 share the 5L 500hp V10 so the redline on both of those is 8250rpm. But the M3 has a 4L 420hp V8 with a redline of 8400rpm.

I backed my car into my friends 2008 BMW m3, about 3mph there was no damage to my rear bumper but the front of his got a crack in the middle and on both sides the bumper came outwards and overlapped the top area where the bumper fits by about 1". So I am assuming it will need a new bumper, so about how much will this whole repair or replace cost? Thank you
