Q: I want to add an in dash navagation unit to my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ?
Is there a way to buy the GM nav unit and have it compatable. I have the bose speakers and onstar. My main concern is where and how to mount the gps antenna? If i get an aftermarket nav unit will i loose the stock xm antenna? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.
A: Technically, GM issued a bulletin, instructing dealers NOT to install navigation systems in vehicles not originally equipped with that option. You can still find dealers that will do it but many will tell you it can't be done or that they won't do it.
If you've got factory XM and want to retain it, you will need to stick with the factory radio. (Actually, the factory XM antenna does not plug into the radio. It plugs into a remote XM tuner, which is, in turn, connected to the factory radio.)
In addition to the radio, you will need a nav DVD and the nav antenna. I've seen forums where people have done this and some indicated they needed to add a wire for the vehicle speed sensor so the navigation tracked smoothly. If you haven't done so, you might want to check http://gm-trucks.com They might have a write-up on it. I can't remember.
You can find the complete set-up for around $1000 if you look around enough. I know you can get the nav antenna here:

Keep in mind that there are two different versions of the nav radio. One plays DVD video and is designed for the rear seat entertainment (rse) system, although the rear screen is NOT required to use this version. (In fact, you will be able to watch DVD movies on the nav screen when the vehicle is in park.) If you don't think you'll ever need rse, go with the other version to save a few bucks.
Q: Would you still drive a 2007 chevrolet silverado 2500HD?
Would you still have it if you weren't actually using it as a work truck? I got one from an auction it is a crew cab, gas type, and it is an LT. They were giving it for 12,000 and that is a cheap price for that truck so I got it because who knows if a nicer truck will be auction off again. So would you still keep it if you were not using it as much for work?
A: As all big truck/SUV drivers are finding, gas is too expensive. You got the truck cheap because of high fuel costs, and yes, more will be given away in the future. A truck is great to have around, but you better think about a better MPG daily driver, unless you don't drive a lot, then it is fine. If you don't need it, try to sell it now and hopefully make a buck on it.
Q: How do I tap into the fuse block on a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado calssis?
A: thomas;
Do not tap into the fuse block. I think your going to add accessories. Do 1 of 2 things.
1. Run accessory wire directly from the battery, but remember to fuse the line in accordance to the accessory unit draw.
2. Use the Power Point circuit, next to the cigarette lighter. Remember to fuse the line in accordance to your accessory unit draw.
The reason for this so you do not interfere with the vehicle's
engine computer (CPU) or the vehicles (PCM) Power Control
Management) Systems. Interfering with either of these circuits
will cause problems with vehicle performance, such as emission controls, and driveabilitly.
Q: When will the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado be out?
Will it be redesigned and have an interior similar to the 2007? Does anybody have any spy photos?
A: GM states it will be out in the Fall, but I think it'll be an August release, if not sooner. I work for GM, they always overshoot their estimates.. I just don't care for the look of the new trucks..
Q: Bad Quality Sound When I Plug My IPod Nano Into AUX Input In 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Truck?
The quality is alot less vrs a CD. I am using the factory installed AUX input jack in my factory stereo and a Griffin TuneFlex. It plugs into my 12 volt lighter plug, then a cable from there to the AUX on my stereo. My IPod snaps into the Griffin TuneFlex. Any ideas on why the sound quality is so bad? Thanks for any help.
A: Other people aren't very happy with the Griffin.

See how it sounds without the Griffin- just patch the iPod to the AUX input and run it on its own batteries. Let the iPod sit in a cupholder. Start with iPod volume low and increase until it sounds right.
