Q: Working on Center cab console on 2003 Dodge Ram pickup. How 2remove the roof mounted console to retrieve pcs?
Tried to remove map/courtesy light lens and some pieces fell in behind the back portionof the console. I was wondering how to safely remove the console that houses the compass/temperature and light package to retieve the parts. Also, my back-up white light indicator has gone out on 2003 Dodge ram pickup and was wondering if I could replace it myself before heading to the dealer? Any help or suggestions would be great
A: MOST ALL OF THOSE CONSOLES WILL HAVE HIDDEN TABS THAT ARE LOCATED NEAR EACH CORNER THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO PULL OUT CAREFULLY WITH THE USE OF BOTH OF YOUR HANDS AND AS FOR THE REAR LIGHT, YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF.
Q: How do I know what engine have my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel HO or not?
I have an 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel 5.9L and how can I know which engine has it, HO or regular Turbo Diesel.
Thank you.
A: The best way is to get the dealer nearest to you to run you a VIN report that breaks down all of your options. However, I believe the 2003 models only used the h.o. Cummins with the manual transmission.
Q: how do I change the front brake pads on a 2003 dodge ram 2500 2wd truck w a 5.7l engine?
looking for info on how to change the front (rear too !)brake pads on my 2003 dodge 2500 ram 2wd truck w 5.7L engine.
Also, my radio stopped working completely the fuses are fine how would i test the amp or replace it if necessary?
A: Changing breaks is simple. Please read this in it entirety before trying.
First you need to assess if you have warped rotors. If while breaking the vehicle surges under the pressure of the standard breaking not hard breaking then you have a warped rotor. You have to either remove them and take them to a local shop and have them turned or replace them all together. If you have one warped rotor it is best to have them both turned as pinpointing which one is warped is next to impossible.
Buy a Break Piston Compressor from your local Automobile Shop. Provided a link on what it looks like. While you are there buy the pads. You will want to get the premium or ceramic pads as they will last longer.
Now be prepared to get dirty.
Let the vehicle set for one hour if you just came back from the shop to have the breaks cooled down properly.
Open the hood and loosen the cap for the break reservoir. Do not add more fluid at this time. While performing this break replacement break fluid may spill out so loosely wrapping a rag around the break reservoir will catch most of it. DO NOT REUSE THE FLUID YOU CATCH AND PUT BACK IN THE SYSTEM.
Jack up the vehicle and place a jack stand under the control arm. That is for safety in case the jack fails.
Remove the tire and set aside.
Locate the caliper with the break pads in place.
Open the box that has the new pads. Examine the pads to make sure that you purchased the correct pads by comparing them while they are still on the vehicle. Pads have a metal side and a rough material side to them. After verifying that everything looks the same remove the two bolts that are on the back of the caliper. They are not the large 15/16 bolts they are probably 10mm or 12mm bolts.
Once they are removed, remove the caliper by sliding it forward from the top to the front of the vehicle and lift up. You can set the caliper on top of the rotor while working. DO NOT REMOVE THE BREAK LINE AS DOING SO WILL REQUIRE YOU TO HAVE TO BLEED THE SYSTEM.
Remove the outer pad make note of how you take it out and how it was positioned in the caliper. You may need a screwdriver to help release the clips from the caliper. Do not bend them.
Now leaving the inner pad in place use the piston compression tool and push the piston further into its cylinder. Make sure that you place the tool in the center of the piston and apply Even pressure until it bottoms out. You will know that because you cannot turn it anymore. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Open the box that contains the new pads. Locate the Inner pad and remove the inner pad from the caliper and replace it with the new one. Now put the outer pad in place. Return the caliper to its correct position back on the the rotor assembly and insert and replace the bolts. They should be torqued to 10 to 15 ft pounds no more. All vehicles are different so you may want to ask for the torque specifications on your model from the local repair shop.
Replace the tire and perform that same steps on the other side.
After you are finished make sure to tighten the cap for the Break reservoir and close the hood. Start the vehicle and slowly pump the breaks till they feel normal. Test drive it a short distance going slow. No more than 15 mph and test the breaks again. Works great.
Now go clean up you terrible.
Q: How many pounds of freon do you need to put in a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
How many pounds of freon do you need to put in a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: you mean 134-a, i think its around 2.2 pounds in that one,it says what to add to it on the sticker located on the shroud or near the compressor, you don't want to overfill it though,i wouldn't add over one can to it if its not working right, you could damage the compressor on it,it would be a lot better to have a shop do this that has the gages to monitor it with, good luck.
Q: 2003 Dodge Ram heat went last winter and Cold air went this Summer?
I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500.Last winter the heat stopped working. This summer the Air stopped.I took it to the place where I bought it and they said I would have to take it to a dealer. They took the dash out and said it wasnt the doors inside sticking. What else could it be.I dont think its the heater core because there is no water on the floor board.
A: you most likely have two problem first the heater check the vacuum to the heater control valve need to be checked and also check if the valve is working. the dodges have been having causing problem with the freeze plug and this mean heater control valve also. and check the thermostat.
the Radiator fan also could have stopped running which could effect both, check to see if you have coolant. you could have a coolant leak that would effect both. the coolant fan relay will effect both. if the radiator fan relay does not turn the fan on it will cause the head pressure on the a/c compressor to go high
Q: Where can I go to buy a, 2003 dodge ram with a 5.7 Hemi, accelerator pedal?
I need a new or used accelerator pedal for my 2003 dodge ram with a 5.7 Hemi. but I can't find the one I need all I can find are the universal ones. and those will not work.
A: id go to a salvage yard for one ,if you find a new one its going to be expensive,at a salvage yard they run about 45 bucks ,good luck.
Q: How much space is there under the rear seat in a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT?
I've been wanting to add a sound system under the rear seat in my Ram I recently bought. I wanted to know how much space is the under the seat to know what speakers to buy.
A: try measuring it and then go and see what speakers are available that you could mount under them,if your going to box them in you,ll need a low profile speaker for it,if it were me id go see what was available and the see what i wanted to use in it,most people mount them in the back for better sound, good luck.
Q: Will a 4.7L engine from a 2003 Durango fit a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup? Why or Why Not? What interchanges?
I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7L engine, The engine in bad, and I need to know what engines interchange with this truck. Some say 2003 and 2004 Ram pickup only, others say 2003 to 2007 Pickup, Durango, Dakota, and Grand Cherokee 4.7L engines will interchange!
A: i can tell you for a fact that a 4.7 out of an 05 model will fit it because that's what im doing right now is changing one out and according to the guy who sold us the engine it came from an 05 model,we paid 800 bucks for a engine with 45 thousand on it which isn't to bad,we already got it in with little effort,so far everything appears to be the same on it,good luck.
Q: The bumper on my 2003 Dodge ram is beginning to rust now that the plastic trim came up. What do I do?
The plastic trim popped up. I guess the way it was held down failed. Not rust has began to show. Do I just put glue or something under it and hold it down so the trim will stay?
A: take emry cloth to get rid of any rust and spray clear coat paint over it which will further prevent rusting
Q: How much would a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab be?
Used, that is
4x4, or 4x2, doesn't matter.
A: it depends on the mileage and the condition of it ,i have seen some 05 models lately that i wouldn't pay 1500 bucks for that was really used and beat up,but that's what a truck is for to use not play with, mileage will kill the value of any truck you go to buy so remember this,i got a ram with well over two hundred thousand on it and according to kbb prices its only worth about 800 bucks, good luck
Q: if the air conditioning on a 2003 dodge ram works while you drive and not when you stop what is the problem?
The air still blows but it warms up , freon level is good , could it be the heater core?
A: THe heater core is for HEAT, not A/C. Air conditioning has an EVAPORATOR. Many vehicles can have the EXPANSION valve cleaned without dis-assembly of A/C components. ALso, go to a POWER WASH and clean the space between the radiator and the A/C condenser. It is a haven for road debris, bugs, seeds, leaves, and other stuff. You may have to remove a few screws to get there. When things are factory clean, air can flow all around BOTH systems better. While you're at it, change the plugs using Bosch single point Platinums, Fusion, or Nippondenso Iridium or Twin Tip's. Your engine will make more power, and the engine won't "drag" when the A/C is turned on. Good Luck!!!
Q: why is my lifted 2003 dodge ram squeeky in the rear by the bed?
i just bought the truck and need to know what to do about it. thanks guys.
A: anytime one is lifted it puts more tension on the rear springs and causes this too happen ,you can try adding a small amount of lubricant to the bushings in the rear of it but not to much,if its bad enough you may have to replace the rear bushings on the springs to stop this from happening on it,adding to much lubricant will damage the rubber bushings on it,good luck.
Q: I have a 2003 DODGE RAM that looses pressure when idling.Cleaned the throttle body n it still stalls now what?
What can it be that is causing loss of pressure?
Pressure loss is when at idle. The RPMS ramp up and then drop dramatically like it wants to stall and at times it looses all pressure and stalls.
A: check for a blown center head gasket or maybe a vacume line somewhere on the engine has a hole in it or might be loose on the connecting port or nipple. also check the base plate gasket of the throttle body. sometimes these leak and can cause the engine idle to ramp up and down and stall the engine
Q: 2003 dodge ram if i flush the heater-core i get heat for about 3days then blows cold air then it will overheat?
2003 dodge ram 1500
A: After this heater blows cool, what is the coolant level, and condition? This tells you how to proceed. Pressure test system. There is many parts to check, and all are very important.
The heater is good for telling you the entire condition of the cooling system. It warms and warns.
Hope its ok for you. You could study the Automotive Cooling Systems theory of operation, and repair(money). Or pick and choose parts. As a 2003 may need almost all, with mileage and maintenance the biggest factor. It's a good investment in your good truck. I bypassed mine and set up a serviceable unit.
