Q: Need help with a 1988 ford mustang has a/c problems?
Me and my uncle bought a 1988 mustang gt. it has mac headers and dual exhuast. But when we turn on the air it doesnt blow from the vents. I can hear it blowing at the floor but thats it. Any suggestions? Also when you drive it it gets very hot inside even with the windows down. you can feel the heat from the engine coming in thru the floor board?
A: Get under the dash and locate the evap case. The main door is not opening or closing properly.

A: The fuel pump relay is right under the driver's side seat attached to a small bracket to the floor. The relay down in the passenger side kick panel and up over the EEC-IV is the EEC relay. That relay is not a fuel pump relay. It's for the engine computer (EEC-IV).

A: some of the cheaper code scanners use a blinking light, they also come with a code book. Check at Pepboys, around $30
that check engine light trick was for GM if I remember right, the Ford doesn't have one so you can't use it ..

I am the original owner and have never sold a car before. It has 175,000 miles and is in pretty good condition. I hate to see it go, but it's either the car or paying my rent. I need some advice on how to sell it quickly for cash. My back is literally against the wall and I'm too sick to drive around a lot.
It has a good interior, it has a little rust on the hatch and some on the door panels. The transmission is manual. Everything is original besides the alternator and starter and hoses/belts, etc. It has been my everyday car, off and on, for several years but was in storage for a couple of years when I had new cars. There aren't any blemishes other than a dent in the rear quarterpanel. I live in Ohio and as it's not a winter-car (always had front wheel drive backup) hasn't seen a lot of salt. It would need tires within 10,000 miles. It starts easily but considering it's 19 years old, probably is on its last legs in terms of clutch/transmission. There aren't too many cars around non-altered, but it might just be a heap that no one wants. It would probably serve better for shelter than anything else, I assume.

A: First, check the top make sure it functions properly and there are no tears or holes. The top, pumps, pump motor and hydraulic lines all are not cheap to replace. Second, check the interior the seats, floor, dash etc. for signs of of water damage, weatherstripping is not cheap to replace. Third, inspect the trunk lid. These are famous for rusting out and leaking on the fox body verts, I put a cervini's fiberglass lid on mine. Check out the inside of the trunk and spare tire keeper for signs of rust. Next inspect the underneath of the car for rust/rot and accident damage. This includes the front sub-frame/engine compartment, the k-member, strut towers and radiator frame. Check the floorboards for rot make sure they are not rotting out around the seat bolts. Then check the rear shock mounts, quad shock mounts if it has them. Also, while you're looking underneath checkout the exhaust system, look at the exhaust a second time when the engine is running for leaks. Finally, take the car for a drive make sure it handles, drives,shifts, and stops without problems.

A: Yes they stayed pretty much the same up to 93, all are clutch driven fans, I converted to a Taurus electric fan more hp and more dependable!
