Q: How do you grease the ball joints on a 2000 Ford Mustang?
My car has been making some funny sounds lately. There is a brief moaning or honking noise coming from under the car when I accelerate from a stop. My husband said that the ball joints may need to be greased. If anyone has any other ideas as to what it might be, or knows how to locate and grease these joints on a 2000 Ford Mustang, it would be greatly appreciated. Could dirty brake fluid cause this? When I took it down to get inspected a week ago they said the brake system should be flushed.

A: The factory ball joints on a Mustang do not have grease zerks so you can not top off the grease. That may not be the source of your noise anyway. Outer tie rod ends are a frequent source of such noise complaints on Ford vehicles. They don't have grease fittings either. And no, it is not dirty brake fluid that is causing this. Q: How do i install a Convertible Top on my 2000 Ford Mustang?
My roof on my 2000 Ford mustang is starting to tear from the rear window area. How do i install a new roof? does anyone know the steps to installing the convertible top? do i need a roof with a window? or can i just buy the meterial, and use the same window?

A: It definitely is not a one person job. When you order a new top, it comes with directions, but it doesn't always work out the way the instructions say. My hubby replaced our top and it is a bitch. Have fun. That's all I can say.

Q: How do i program a keyless remote alarm on my 2000 ford mustang?
does anyone know how to program a keyless remote alarm on my 2000 ford mustang? its the one that comes from the manufacturer with the lock/unlock/trunk option.

A: the above answer Is mostly correct, however, there are 2 important facts missing: #1 flip the remotes over & make sure they have identicle part numbers on them, Not ALL Fords use the exact same remotes. #2 You must program ALL existing (up to 4) remotes at the same time, or else you will "knock out" the codes of any other remotes not present. Q: What year motor fits a 2000 Ford Mustang?
Where can I find if a 2004 ford mustang engine fits a 2000 ford mustang...both cars are v6. The person selling it tells me it does fit but just want to make sure before I buy. Thanks in advance.

A: Mustangs from 1999-2004 all had the 3.8 liter motor with little to no changes in this period. The motors themselves will be interchangeable with little to no modification, but the ECU and some of the sensors/wiring from the newer year car will have to be added to make it run perfectly. One way to guarantee fitment is too call your Ford dealership or find a Ford technician and ask them what is required to get the motor from the newer model to fit in your older model Mustang. Hope this helps, Good luck!

Q: What is the best clutch to use on my 2000 Ford Mustang GT which will soon be Supercharged??
The car is a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6 5-Speed which will soon have a Modular Powerhouse Vortec SuperCharger kit. Needs a new clutch so i might as well get one that can handle the power that is soon to come.

A: Centerforce is the best to use. it has a normal pedal feel but more clamping force than a heavy duty clutch due to weights that are added to the pressure plate that increase clamping force as the pressure plate spins faster due to centrifugal force. it's also easier on the clutch cable and clutch quadrant (self adjuster).

Q: What is the average price to put a vinyl racing stripe down a 2000 Ford Mustang?
I want to put a vinyl racing stripe on my 2000 Ford Mustang and was wondering the average price for this is. And I could give a flying crap about what you think of the car, I asked a question and it is expected of you to answer it.

A: the GT hood ones go for a little over 300 bucks YR3Z 6320001-AAA YR3Z 6320000-AAA the v6 ones look like shit, if yours is a v6 sell it. but if you refuse that, the v6 stripes are about 85 bucks per side, the price actually varies slightly based on what color stripe kit, white, black, or sandalwood.

Q: How do I drive a 2000 Ford Mustang in the snow?
Does anybody out there have any tips? 2000 Ford Mustang GT (8 cylinder manual transmission)...spins like a top on the snow. Took me an hour and a half to get home from school the other day and I only live 5 minutes away! It was pathetic and really frustrating. If anybody has any tips, I would sure appreciate it! Thank you! :)

A: let most of the air out of the tires, the low, soft profile will help. plus be very gentle with the throttle, just let it idle :)

Q: How many miles is too many for a 2000 Ford Mustang?
I'm looking at a 2000 Mustang for $3,500. It has 110K miles on it and needs a new headlight. Is this too many miles to make it worth my money?

A: That is below average for a 2000 car. My 2000 Grand Prix had 111K and that was below average. Asuming that the car is mechanically sound, that is a decent deal.

Q: Is a 2000 ford mustang a dependable car?
I am thinking about buying a 2000 mustang but don't know that if it's worth it. V6 orV8 stick or auto? And also how easy it is to work under the hood? Thanks for answering

A: I have a 99 GT (Same body style as the 2000). This has been a great car for me. Mine is automatic but I would prefer it stick. Working on the 99-04 Mustang GT is great. Electrical can get a little confusing, but as far as mechanical repairs or upgrades, this is a great car. I have done all of my upgrades in my shop and this has saved me a few thousand. The only repair done outside my shop (Large garage) was some welding on the exhaust. You can easily find a 2000-2004 GT for less than 10K or 8K depending on condition.

Q: How can I tell what size rear end is on my 2000 Ford Mustang(V-6)?
The rear end differenial cover is leaking on my 2000 Ford Mustang(V6 engine,5 speed manual transmission),I need to know how to tell what size rear end it is(7.5 or 8.8)so I order the right gasket.

A: Gearbox is correct. RTV sealant is used from the factory. There is no need for a paper gasket.

Q: 2000 Ford Mustang V6. Can I drop a V8 in or is that not possible?
I have a 2000 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6. Wanted a V8 obviously but I got it CHEAP and the body and interior is immaculate. I want to know if i can put a V8 in the car or if it would be too much work and trouble to go through. (just sell it and buy a V8?). What would I have to do and where would i go to get it done? and any price ideas? Thanks!

A: It is possible but you would need a Mustang with a V8 for a parts car. It would be allot easier just to buy one with a V8.

Q: Canadian Red Book Value for a 2000 Ford Mustang?
I'm getting ready to sell my 2000 Mustang V6 3.8L and would like to know what the Red Book value is. I already looked up the Blue Book value, but wanted to know Red Book since I am in Canada and will be selling it locally. It has 97K on it and is in excellent condition. If anyone could help, I would be very appreciative!

A: $8,000 would be a reasonable price if you are selling it yourself (no dealer warrantee). http://www.vmrcanada.com/value_menus/canprices/00fomung.htm
