Q: ford explorer?
i decide to buy a ford explorer , so is it good or bad car. what about it's maintanance and spare part price . TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT IT. PLS!!

A: I've owned two, and my brother has an Explorer. late nineties shared the Mazda drive train and proved to be very reliable. I owned a two door sport and a four door Eddie Bauer edition. Liked both, and had no problems except they are hard on brake pads. They are usually nicely appointed and drive well. Gas mileage will range in the 15 to 18 miles per gallon.

Q: Ford explorer!!!!!!!!!?
I have a 1997 ford explorer and need to get a new remote to lock/unlock the doors I tried replacing the batteries how would I go about getting a new remote?? Please tell me where I could call or go online to get one

A: Call a Ford dealer and ask, but until then, just use the key. That will always work.

Q: How much would a used ford explorer or used truck be today? Also how old do I have to be to drive and get a job?
How old is a used ford explorer or truck today? How old do I have to be to drive and get a job?

A: different for every state on both questions. most states are 16. california is slowly stepping up to 18 i think right now theyre at 16.5 soon to be 17. and in montana its something like 14. i just bought a 94 eddie bauer bronco with a 5.8L engine (the big one) and in immaculate condition with 106k mi for $4800 and it runs like its brand new. my roomate just bought a 2001 explorer for $4200 in slightly less than perfect condition with a 4.0L v6

Q: How much miles could a Ford Explorer take before you have to change the engine?
I want to by a ford explorer but don't know how much miles it could take before buying one with too much miles on it?

A: It depends on the state the engine was in before you started driving it. Modern engines can normally take a good 200,000 before having major problems, however, you need to make sure that the oil level is sufficient and that you regularly service the vehicle to maintain the engine as best as possible. Faliure to do so will obviously decrease the ability of the engine to perform high mileage.

Q: What would look better a all black 1997 ford explorer or an all white with black rims explorer?
I want to know what would look cooler a blacked out "murdered out" 1997 Ford explorer all black no chrome or only a little. Or would it look cooler if it was all white with black rims and a little bit of black where the chrome was.

A: the murdered out look is played out.. im starting to see more flat white cars with flat black wheels now

Q: Why does my ford explorer jeep vibrate when it is not moving?
When i stop my ford explorer jeep it starts to shake/vibrate what is this?

A: Most likely needs a tune up. Change the plugs and wires. If you have a check engine light, take it to the auto parts store and get the codes read. Edit: I didn't read it fully the first time. Do you have air controlled lumbar support on your seats? If so' you may have a small leak.

Q: How do you remove the rear subwoofer in a 2002 ford explorer sport?
The subwoofer in the back of my 2002 ford explorer sport broke and I cannot get it out of the hole it is in. I removed all of the screws and tried prying it out with a hammer and still cannot get it out. Any ideas on how to remove it? Does it require any factory tools to get it out?

A: You're missing one screw: it goes through the back of the subwoofer enclosure and into the center of the sub's back plate. To remove the sub, you need to take off the entire rear side panel and pull the enclosure out so you can get to the back. Stupid design, eh?

Q: How long can I drive my 1996 Ford Explorer with the front drive shaft only?
I have a 1996 Ford Explorer that I want to tow behind my RV. The owners manual suggests that I must remove the rear drive shaft before doing this. It also suggests that I can engage 4WD mode in order drive the vehicle without reinstalling the shaft, however, it says that I can only drive up to 50 miles in this manner and no further. Does this mean that I cannot drive more than 50 miles for as long as I own the vehicle or does it mean no more than 50 miles per trip?

A: 50 miles per trip. It isn't going to damage the transfer case.

Q: OK I asked about my Ford Explorer yesterday. Now, What kind of vehicle should we get?
I asked the question about our Ford Explorer yesterday. It is still at the garage and the bill is way over $1000.00. After its fixed we are done with it. We are selling it. What kind of car vehicle can we get now? Something the same size as explorer?

A: A toyota suv such as the 4 runner would be a good replacement. They're very reliable vehicles compared to the so called american made vehicles (ford, chevy, dodge) The 4-runner is the same size, but has better fuel economy.

Q: How much to replace transmission pump 92 Ford Explorer?
I own a 92 Ford Explorer and need to replace the transmission pump. It was recently serviced (replaced filter and fluid) and was running better but now it slips between gears and is very slow to get into first gear. It's an automatic and it drives like I don't know how to work a manual. I was just curious as to how much it might cost to get it fixed. Thanks.

A: you would be better off to let a transmission shop do this as this is a complete breakdown and while you are there you might as well have the trans rebuilt you can call around to find out the best deals

Q: What type of transmission oil will a ford explorer require?
What type of engine oil will a ford explorer require? And how many quarts would be reqiured to fill the transmission after you extract the oil. This a 2000 Ford Explorer 4x4 4.0 L engine SOHC

A: Ford Motorcraft Mercon ATF. Or Mercon 5. Its a specific fluid. If you use a different fluid you may ruin the transmission. It is pretty pricey, or is known to be around $7 a quart. And you will need about 5 quarts.

Q: why is my 1991 ford explorer so hard to start?
i have a 1991 ford explorer, very hard to start, will almost run battery down before it starts, and sometimes does. runs fine after start, can anyone tell me why its so hard to start?

A: there are many reasons why your explorer won't turn over as easily as it should, but i'll cover the most common reasons below. - faulty/worn spark plugs: when was the last time you had a tune-up done on your vehicle? many times, worn or faulty spark plugs can be a big reason for hard starts, bad mileage, lack of power, and even miss-fires. spark plugs are what burn the fuel and air mixture inside your engine, so if you don't have a good spark, it'll be that much harder for your engine to turn over as it should. a good quality spark plug from a major auto part store should run you no more than $4 each, although more economic ones are also available. spark plugs should be changed out about every 8 months in order to achieve maximum mpg's. however, this timeframe varies depending on the quality of the spark plug used. - faulty/worn spark plug wires: if your spark plugs are still in good running condition, your spark plug wires might be to blame. a spark plug is only as good as the wire it gets its power from. if the wires are old, they may have a corroded or even rusted boot (where the wire makes contact with the spark plug). in order to achieve maximum mpg's, i suggest changing the wires out once a year, although running the same wires for about 2 years is still acceptable. i suggest using nothing smaller than a 8mm wire. a set of good quality wires should run you no more than $35. - clogged/dirty air filter: your engine requires a constant flow of air, which it mixes with fuel in order to create a highly combustible blend. if the engine is being highly restricted from breathing properly, it may take a lot more for the engine to turn over because it can't create a good, uniformed combustion. this will also cause your mpg's to drop heavily as well as your power, not to mention the wear and tear you're causing your engine by forcing it that much more to run. a popular and commonly used air filter should run you no more than $8. these are the most basic, common reasons as to why your engine might have such a hard time starting up. i strongly suggest you perform a thorough tune-up on your vehicle as soon as possible if you haven't done so within the past year. if you're up for it, how-to walk-through's can be found on the website listed below and in-depth manuals for your vehicle can be purchased at your major auto parts store. it's a pinch in your pocket and times are hard right now, but a proper tune-up can be the difference between having a good running vehicle or a busted engine, which could lead to thousands of dollars in repair costs. also, refrain from cranking the engine for more than 4 seconds at a time. turn and hold the key and release after 4 seconds and then try again, pausing for about 2-3 seconds between each attempt. continuously cranking your engine can wear down your starter very quickly and is harsh on your engine internals. pump the gas pedal 2 or 3 times after the first crank attempt, but no more. i hope this info helps and that your explorer turns out ok.

Q: 1994 ford explorer passenger side door will not open with key?
I just bought a 1994 ford explorer from my neighbor. It runs great but as with any used car there are a few "issues." I noticed today, the passenger side door does not open with a key. It goes in, turns, but does nothing. I can open the door once I unlock it with the power locks, from inside and out. I am guessing I need a new mechanism for it, how much does it cost to have these installed, or is there any way to get it working otherwise?

A: you might need a new latch.but first Pull the door panel and see if you do not have any lose parts in the latch area.
