Q: Why are Dodge trucks better than Ford and Chevys?
Overall the Dodge builds a better quality truck. What do u think? Please no lies on how Ford and Chevys are great trucks because they are Piece of ****'s.
Actually I see more 3500 Rams on construction sites than any Fords or Chevy 3500s, probably because they can tow 1600+ pounds and last a beating. They make a 4500 and 5500 now that i hear are tight trucks. Mile for mile the Dodge last a lot longer than any other truck, with low repairs.
Experience my friend. Jeeps, love em, and Dodge share the same quality, both used in the military to last in rough conditions. I was a Chevy guy until my truck had a tranny problem. I tried Ford and that actually lasted awhile until various small parts broke at one time. Dodge has passed my expectations by a long shot. Sorry for u Ford and Chevy owners. I still own a Chevy but not for long.
A: There does seem to be many more 2500 Dodge and 3500 dodges than Fords Or Gms.Part of it is the price Dodge trucks can be purchased for less.Another part of it is the Cummins Turbo diesel. Both Ford and GM have changed engines in their diesels many times. For the toyota idiot toyota still hasn't built a real truck the tundra has an all aluminum v8.Try towing a heavy load thru the desert when its 127 degrees out.Once you overheat it its gone. For those who doubt the Dodge might I suggest sitting for a day at a busy truck stop such as a flying J and watch all the pickups pulling fifth wheels and Commercial loads.I had a friend who did this and he was a Ford lover he was amazed by how many more Dodges he saw and by what they were pulling.
Q: Do Ford trucks last for a long time?
I'm going to buy a used Ford and i want to make sure that they are reliable and last for as long as people say, if anyone could help that would be great, thank you!
A: do you need to ask such a question... like all fords they run forever
Q: New Engine Line Up For Ford Trucks 2010 and beyond.?
Does anyone know anything about the New Engine line for the Ford F-series?
Ive heard of the
5.0L V8 (Coyote) - Last I heard on this was a recent issue of Four Wheeler Magazine which said its been confirmed to still be in the works and set to release for 2010 or 2011.
6.2L V8 - Possibly exclusive to the Raptor and Harley Davidson F-150 and also a possibility that it will replace the 6.8L V-10 in the Super-duty Trucks.
4.4L (Turbo Diesel) V8/V6 (I cant remember) - Last I heard about this engine is that it was delayed once again until possibly 2011 or 2012 even. And there is a high probability that it will be canceled completely between now and then.
6.7L Turbo Diesel (Scorpion) slated for the Super duty's. Last ive heard its on track for the 2011 redesign.
And last but not least.....
I have heard a rumor from an fairly unreliable source that Ford is considering putting a 7.0L 500+hp V8 into their Super duty trucks as an option of a High Output engine that fits in between the new 6.2L (Gas) and the 6.7L (Diesel).
If this is a possible new line up for Ford trucks in the future that would be great! I think this new engine line up would be very beneficial to the truck line and the company as a whole. As it combines Power and Economy. Power being that of the 5.0L 6.2L and (rumored) 7.0L V8's
Economy being that of the 4.4L Diesel and engine that when equiped with a 6-speed auto in the F-150 should be able to easily achive over 20mpg.
Anyway if anyone has any knowledge of this please respond!
A: Coyote 5.0L = on the way, you'll see it first in the 2011 Mustang GT. It'll likely replace the 3 valve 4.6L across the board eventually
6.2L Boss V8 = also on the way, It'll be in the Raptor first, then likely the Navigator. It'll replace the 6.8L V10 in the Super Duty trucks. We'll also likely see it in a Mustang at some point as well.
4.4L Diesel = The baby powerstroke has been dead for two years now. Navistar and Ford had a falling out over who would foot the bill for the warranty repairs on the 6.0L diesels. The 4.4L was a casualty of that fallout. It's dead.
6.7L Powerstroke = The Scorpion is on track for a 2011 launch, it's an entirely Ford design. It's preliminary specs are impressive.
Q: need help with simple questions on two trucks. ford and a chevy.?
the first question is on the chevy. i have a 350 in it, with an edelbrock carb. it runs great until i floor it. it blows out my valve cover gaskets. i was told to change the ccv valve. would i find the "CCV" (crank case vent)?
the second is on the ford. my power steering suddenly stopped. the there was no noise, the pump is still turning, i think, and the fluid level is full. i have no idea what it could be and really cant afford a new pump this week!!! please help. i dont have much time and really need atleast one
well i sure appreciate the answers. i talked to the parts house and they told me to change the PCV valve, as well as the CCV valve. said it was under my breather, but i sure dont see it!! could it be in the carb?
whoa, my pcv valve is hooked up to the front of my carb. it this bad?
A: On the Chevrolet it is a PCV valve located in the valve cover, depending on your model, it is to the rear of one of the two and has a hose that goes from there to the carb or to the intake.
For the Ford power steering problem, it does sound like your pump abruptly failed internally, but if it has a rack and pinion, it could be an internal failure in the rack and pinion.

Q: Where can I find a place to rent an old ford pickup truck for prom?
My boyfriend and I are going to prom in may, and he really likes the old ford pickup trucks (like 50's - 60's) and I thought it would be really cool to take one to prom, but I have no idea where to rent one. I live in Ohio, Mansfield area. If you could help, that'd be great! Thanks!
A: See if you have a place call "Rent a Wreck" but you need to at least 18 years of age and if you are they are the only company that will rent vehicles to 18 to 21 year olds.
Q: I have some questions about Ford Trucks...?
A couple of questions, if you could answer any of these that'd be great.
One is an opinion, for the 1980's style trucks, do you like the four door quad cabs or single cabs, I like them both but second opinions are nice.
Another is, also the 1980's style truck, did F150's commonly have V8's?
If you could answer just one of these that'd be great.
A: I liked the styling of the 80's F series trucks. The V8's were the most common engines used and the 6cyl was an inline 4.9L. depending on year and model you had many different engine options. The 4.9L (300) inline 6cyl was the base engine, optional engine were the 5.0L (302) v8, the 5.8l M (351M) v8, the 6.6L (400) v8, the 5.8L (351W) v8, the 5.8L HO (351W HO) , the 7.5L (460) and then the 6.9L v8 diesel and the 7.3L v8 diesel. The earlier year engines were carbeurated and starting in 85 the engines were changed over to Fuel injected versions at different times Contrary to the earlier post the V6 was not offered in the 80's it was offered in the 77-79 and was a 3.8L only offered in the F100 "Pony" and did not offer a V6 in an F series truck until 1997. The V6 in the rangers was very popular and was a 2.8L initially replaced by the 2.9L in late years.
Q: good idea or bad idea to buy a ford truck that has 112,000 miles already? runs great and looks great right now?
but will it last 4 or 5 years without any major problems if it is taken care of?
A: That depends a lot on how well it was taken care of prior to now, and how many miles you plan to drive it over the next 4-5 years. Without seeing the truck, nobody can really tell you. Your best bet is to take it to a mechanic you trust, and have him look it over before you make an offer to buy it. Get a list of what's wrong with it, what's worn, what needs fixing now, and what should be taken care of in the future. Ask for estimates on what each repair would cost, too. Then make a decision.
You can get recommendations on mechanics in the Mechanic's Files at cartalk.com. Poke around there, you'll find it.
Q: Ford had a truck in the 1990's what was it?
Im looking for a truck, I saw a truck today looked like it was a special model Ford. Not sure if it was Ford Fleetside or FleerSide. Great looking truck, any body know what year and model they were. Are they hard to find?
A: um ......ford made f150s......with several different bed options since they been making them.....u can even order special option nowadays....have no idea of which one ur talking about without a picture or something to go on.........since u don't know go to google images and look at 90's ford trucks until u find a photo.....good luck
Q: I can't decide between a Ford F 150 or a Toyota Tacoma.?
Ford trucks have been great for my business, but I'm thinking about the Tacoma. suggestions? No American car bashing either. I support the Big three automakers.
I'm sorry Tundra not Tacoma. I was also looking at the used Ford Ranger versus used Tacoma as a smaller non-business truck.
Yeah, it's built in the US, but all the profits go back to Japan. Big 3 is still much more American.
A: Ford is better for trucks, they seem more popular than the Tacoma.

Q: I have a 98 Ford Expedition. Great truck but all of a sudden just like others on here the truck just shutdown ?
completely. I was driving it home, then a beeping sounds went off, the truck hesitated, and then bam every single thing it is shut down. I was even locked inside the truck. We have now replaced the battery, alternator, and unplugged the alarm on it. Jump started it, fired up, and then same thing occurred again. Can someone please help us in finding out where the true problem is? I noticed many others have had this same problem, help!
A: I don't know how to fix it, but I can tell you that it is your anti-theft system. Your dealer will know how to fix it, but it will more than likely be pretty costly.
Q: i would like to add a tachometer to my 79 ford truck but it has never had one on it,how would i add this?
my truck is a 79 ford custom with a 302, 4 speed trani, and no tachometer. I really want to add one but not sure how to do so. if you can halp me out that would be great.
A: just go to the auto parts store and buy a new tachometer and it has all the wiring instructions packed in with it.
Q: I got a 2001 FORD RANGER 2.5 I feel the waste lots of gas I dont even get 200 miles per tank?
ford ranger 2.5 5 speed truck runs great for a 4 cylinder but it burn lots of gas is so bad i don't even get 200 miles a tank. any hints of what I could do? I'm not really good of a mechanic, but I also dont want to pay someone to bull me around and take my money.
A: change the sparkplugs and wires.
Q: Look, I looooove trucks!.....?
I love how chevy (GM) put performance and reliability at the top of it's list....I like how Ford crafts the interior and exterior, and love the way Dodge does both (when it comes to trucks) without the reliability....which truck is truely the best....Ford trucks are nice to look at both when looking outside and inside but lack guts...chevy's are ok to look at but are great performers and are reliable...dodge trucks are great to look at and are great perfomers, but lack reliablity...what do you think?
Ok for those that have posted....I currently own a '99 GMC Sierra 2500 and have been very happy with the truck. I punch the peddle all the time and have had no problems with the engine. I currenly have 135K miles on it and it still runs like new after beating it so hard. I haven't even changed the breaks after going on 8 years.....really! I love GMC but it's the first truck I've owned. I like how the Ford 250's look but don't know about the reliablilty...I've had mechanics tell me to stay away...I like how the dodge's look but have seen a friend's truck in service twice in the last two years. I am loyal to the GM brand but am leaning towards a Ford F250 but am weary of manintenance after stepping on it too much. Dodge, I just don't think they can hang...performance yes...but can drive tomorrow...probably not. So my question is why do Americans buy Ford over Chevy? Honest quesiton. I do like GM but also like the stlying of the F250.
I would definitely go for the F250 V10 over the regular F250 for power as GM can beat the V8 easy....but I'm looking for styling plus power! Power off the line...economy wise not down in the dirt ready to work wise. And don't tell me to get a life because nowadays people look for that....which truck will outbeat the other off the line on the road. Dodge can tell you that. Forget about Toyota and Nissan.
A: You just have to go by what you like, go take them all for a test ride one day and make a decision.... I have owned all of the big 3 in all the 27 years of my driving. I like Fords alot, Dodges are ok, Chevy makes a great engine but I have always had bad luck with Chevys so I stick with Ford now. They all have pros and cons.....
