Q: 2000 Honda Accord: When it gets to 3000 rpm, and has been on the road, the car sputters and the needle shakes?
I just had a tune up about two months ago. When I get up to 3000 rpm the car starts to shake and the needle starts to shake until I let off of the gas. I am not sure what the cause is or what to do about it but I need help. Also, I have had two cadelic converters in the past year. I am not sure if that has something to do with it also.

A: Which engine do you have, the four or the six. Many of these engines have the ignition distributor mounted on the side of the cylinder head. If the seal in between leaks, the guts of the distributor gets saturated with eninge oil. Buy a can of CRC CHLORINATED brake clean, Remove your distributor cap, and clean all the junk that has collected inside. Flip the cap over, and be sure that there is a carbon brush in the middle of the cap with a usable spring. It may be time to change the cap and rotor. Also, power wash your entire engine. Make sure that your battery cables are cleaned on BOTH ends. Follow any ground wires that you see, and clean these connections. Many of these cars have a ground wire on the distributor itself. Also, find your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. When this gets dirty, you will suffer a power loss and a poor air/fuel mixture that MAY be the cause of your converter failure. Keep your throttle body and IAC valve SHOWROOM clean ata ll times. Use Gum-out spray. Good luck!!

Q: How do I fold the rear seat of Honda Accord 2000?
I have Honda Accord 2000, and I want to fold the back seat. Can anyone please tell me how to do that? Thanks.

A: use the ignition key to unlock it first and there is a lever on the back of the seat to open it....If you have your owners manual it should be in there

Q: My 2000 Honda Accord brakes squeak when I back up or hit them. Is this a major or minor job? What is the cost?
I just noticed it today because I had my windows down. This could have been going on awhile.

A: Minor. They charge between $60-$90 per hour of what the job SHOULD take. They have a book that tells them what to charge, plus parts. You would be way better off getting someone you know to do the replacement. The way they make money is if a job SHOULD take 6 hours, and it only takes them 2, then they just got paid for 4 hours of basically nothing, then in that time they get started on another job. You can check out advancedautoparts.com for pricing on parts. Hope this helps!

Q: What kind of upgrades can I give my new 2000 Honda Accord?
It's a 2 Door Coupe version with the 3.0 VTech engine.. The transmissions good.. What kind of upgrades can I give it?? Nothing outrageous or that stands out too much cuz honda on their own attract too much attention.. Engine upgrades?.. Audio upgrades?..

A: People are pretty dumb!! Since when has the Honda J-series motor been called underpowered with a failed VTEC? Also, for a couple thousand dollars you can get much more than 10 HP! You could get a custom turbo setup that would, with proper tuning and dyno work, along with other modifications to ensure your engine/tranny can handle the extra power, you could be looking at aroudn the 300HP range, which is plenty for a FWD Accord. But the main performance modification I would suggest for your car is the Comptech USA Supercharger kit. It is designed and built specifically for your vehicle. It is also designed to give you the max performance possible without having to rebuild/strengthen your engine and tranny. The complete kit will probably cost around 3K dollars but will give you everything you need to turn your Accord into a vehicle that will keep up with the newer rides such as the G35/37, BMW 3 series, Mazda RX8 (underpowered but very good handling) and a whole lot of other sports or sporty cars.

Q: does anyone have a 2000 honda accord?
if so how does your transmission work? mine is messed up and i heard that all 2000 honda accord transmissions are messed up. i need to get it rebuilt. does anyone know a price for this?

A: see a trustworthy mechanic

Q: My 2000 honda accord wont start when its hot and sunny outside. Can someone help what could be the cause?

A: It probably has a bad coolant sensor. See if the check engine light is on. If so have a mechanic hook up an analyser to the car and pull codes. If it is not the coolant sensor then maybe oxygen sensor or whatever.

Q: How do you clear the maintenance required light from a 2000 Honda Accord?
There is a certain procedure to do this. I know it involves turning the steering wheel all the way to the left or right. Your help will be appreciated.

A: Get in the car and turn the key in the ignition to the on position, just far enough to turn on the dashboard lights. To the lower right, there's an odometer button. Push it in and wait. When the 'oil life' display begins to flash, release the button. Push it in again. The display will change to "100% oil life", the orange wrench will disappear (if there is nothing else wrong with your Honda Accord), and you can release the button.now press the button again to go back to your odometer.that should do the trick

Q: What fuse blows out on the 2000 Honda Accord if a Battery Jumper is connected backwards?
The car had a dead battery, the wifes friends tried to jump the car and the horn blasted full bore but the car wouldn't start. When looking for the problem on of the friends noticed that the jumper was connected (Backwards) Black to Red and Red to Black. Now it has no eelectrical connectivity with a brand new battery

A: The battery and ignition fuses is inside a black plastic box located on the rh side near the firewall of the engine compartment. Fuses are designed to melt with high current and not with reverse flow. You should have your distributor checked, the distributor's I/C usually gets damage with reverse polarity.

Q: What muffler can i put on my 2000 Honda accord V6 that won't sound like a ricer?
I know plenty about cars, I just want opinion. I have looked at Magna-flow, and they had an 800$ system, I just want to know of any other good sounding exhaust systems that do not scream ricer.

A: Go with larger pipes. I have a V6 Dakota that has 2" duals running through Magna-flows and it sounds great! It's the diameter of the pipes that makes the difference. Have you changed over to a K&N filter? What goes in must come out!

Q: What all needs to be done when flushing the transmission on a 2000 Honda Accord?
I have flushed it two times and my emissions light came on again. Is there a filter that needs to be switched out or what? Help me out please. Well my check engine light came on and so i had it scanned at o'reiley's and advanced and it said it was a tranmission malfunction so i had a trannie flush done 2 times now because the first time it was really dirty and they said i would should get it redone again. so i did. well the light is back on again for the same damn problem. They looked up and apparently the 2000 honda accords dont have trans filters some kind of wire filter. Do u know if those would need to be cleaned out too?

A: I am assuming that you mean your check engine light came on correct?? Well that little light can mean over a thousand different things. This little light tells you when the computer is getting a bad signal from one of the sensors. It could be anything from transmission to exhaust to engine problems. You need to have a code scanner put into your engine to see why the light is coming on.Autozone and alot of car par stores do this for free. There is a filter in the tranny but your engine light will NOT come on because it may be dirty.hopefully you took your vehicle to a ASE certified mechanic when you had the tranny flushed.A competent mechanic will have already changed the filter in the tranny. When you say "emissions" i think of exhaust.I am really hoping you mean your check engine light but like i said that little light can mean a thousand different things. It is basically you cars computer telling you that one of your sensors is bad but just having a tranny flushed,i rather doubt is gonna make it turn on.Come to think of it--why did you have the tranny flushed?Did your 'emission" light come on before the tranny was flushed??This question is kinda tuff to comprehend the way you worded it. --update-- That is pretty vague on what the car parts store told you.I have never seen a trouble code come up so vague as to just say "transmission malfunction".It has more detail then that.Other then that, flushing a tranny isnt gonna hurt your vehicle but it isnt gonna get that light to shut off either. It sounds as if there is a sensor bad somewhere on the tranny. No transmission flushing is gonna fix that. You only really need to flush your tranny once every 60k miles!! Get your car to a competent mechanic or a different one. There is a sensor bad on the vehicle on no fluid or filter changing is gonna fix it!!

Q: How much will it typically cost to replace starter on 2000 Honda Accord?
The shop told me $200 for the starter, $85 for one hour labor and $28 for shop fee. Total of $329 with taxes. Is that reasonable?

A: this sounds reasonable. The shop is in the business of making money. You can probably do it yourself for much less, but you pay them to do something you do not want or are not qualified to do. While $85 sounds expensive for some guy to turn a wrench, running a shop is expensive. It's only open 8 hours a day, and there are not always cars there while it's open. There are bills that have to be paid for every day the shop exists; power, heat, rent, insurance. Then you have the actual hourly cost of the mechanics and the office staff. Think of this more like renting a shop for an hour than paying a guy $85 to do this. It's really a bargain because a shop would go broke if this is the only money it made. If it's anything like my shop, then there has to be a profit, or they are simply not going to do this. The starter does not cost them $200. It probably costs them more like $125. You could probably get it for like $150. If you have more time and ability than money, then do it yourself. If you want to pay someone else to do it, then make a few calls to other shops in your area and see what they would charge. If it's within an acceptable range, do it with your regular mechanic. Just keep in mind, prices will vary. Just like busy people don't shop around for the best deals, busy shops don't always shop around for the cheapest deal on the parts.

Q: How do you change (remove old and insert new) wiper blades on a 2000 Honda Accord?
Removing the old blades (and the metal strips) is difficult, not to mention installing the new blades. Isn't there a simple way to do this?

A: the blades are connected on a "u" shaped arm at the end. there is a squeese clip under the u part. you just squeeze it in and push toward the the wiper mount base and ut will slide off. reverse this untill it clicks when installing the new one. ps auto zone will come out and show you how to do it for free.

Q: what kind of maintenance does my 2000 Honda Accord need?
Im at 98000 miles and my maintenance light is on, what do I need to fix or replace other than my oil and oil filter?

A: if you haven't done the 90K mile service, i suggest you do it 90K service: oil change oil filter change rotate tires if needed transmission fluid drain and refill replace engine air filter replace cabin air filter and also, your timing belt replacement should be coming up. replace the major drive belts, water pump, and coolant. also, valve adjustment, and replacing your spark plugs. i think that's it for now...yea, it's a lotta stuff to take care of. if you take care of all that at the dealerships, it's goign to cost over a grand.

Q: Does the 2000 Honda Accord SE have a timeing chain or belt?
If the car has a belt, mileage wise, when would this need to be changed?

A: Its a timing belt!...but it could be 2 timing belts!...one large and one small?...and usually changed at 60k or 5 years!...which ever comes first...
