Q: How is the Honda Fit on the freeway/ highway?
Hi, I'm a new driver (18) just got my license and planning on purchasing a car. I was wondering how the Honda fit is on the freeway? Is it fast enough to keep up? I would probably use it on the freeway for long trips (8 hours) occasionally.
Thanks in advance.
A: Honda is really a good car.
i recommend for it.
it fits really good and it helps to keep up.
but i dont really think it is a good idea to drive for long trips as you are a beginner on the roads believe me it is for your safe.
know the roads and how to get over and deal with the fools on streets, know the traffic problems by driving for short distances and non crowded ones, then you will know ur real ability.
Q: How well does 2009 Honda Fit interior do against rain or spills?
Moving into Seattle, and thinking about buying the 2009 Honda Fit, but the cloth trim for the seats concern me. I wouldn't want to buy a car that would start to smell moldy once it rains.
Also, clearly, I wouldn't be spilling coffee on the seats on purpose, but with leather seats, coffee spills might be less concerning.
If you've driven a 2009 Honda Fit, or just know a lot about it, please help! Thanks!
A: Well, the rain will be kept out of any new car, and Hondas are particularly airtight (pops my ears if someone slams the hatch when all the windows are up). I can't help you about the leather, we have cloth seats, and I hate leather, so you have to weigh your own opinions and values on that count. Our dog is in our car a lot, and we carpool an hour (one way) twice a week with coffee drinkers, and have had no problems so far. The cup holders are all secure (I love the backseat ones, especially), and the advent of insulated, capped mugs seems to do a good enough job of keeping coffee spills in check.
[EDIT - I wanted to add, this carpool has been going on for 3 months now, and there have been no spills in any of the vehicles, not just ours. I guess your worry depends on the hygiene and/or clutz-factor of your intended driver or riders...]
Q: What is the actual labor effort to install 2010 Honda Fit car accessories?
I'm shopping for a 2010 Honda Fit and would like to add some Honda accessories.
When I go to the Honda car website to look at the various accessories I can add, there is a note that says the costs shown do not include the installation cost.
I was wondering what is the actual labor effort, in terms of manhours, to install the following accessories:
- Door Edge Film
- Body Side Molding
- Door Visor
- Center Armrest
Thanks for the help!
A: This one is hard. Every dealership is different from the other. From what I can tell is about 4 to 6 hours. but again every dealer is different. In some dealers it's 80 dollars an hour and in other is 110 dollars that makes a big difference too. In some dealers the flat rate techs do this kind of work and they get paid more $$, In some other dealers they have a pdi tech (pre delivery inspection) that's on salary not flat rate that will do this kind of work for less $$. I guess it will be better for u to call other honda places were u live and ask and also use that info for your advantage u know like; Hey the other Honda place will do it for less.. That always works . Good luck!
Q: How do you work the paddle shifters in a Honda Fit Sport?
I have never driven a manual car and my understanding of shifting gears is small. I picked up a Honda Fit Sport, but I'm not sure how to work the Paddle shifters?
A: Check the owners manual.
Q: How would the Honda Fit fair going up mountains is it to underpowered to handle these type of things?
I'm currently in the market to buy a hatch back and the two that I've narrowed it down to is the Honda Fit and the Toyota Matrix however the Honda Fit has significantly less hp however it has vtec (boost? lol)
A: We commute/carpool from Pahrump (elev 2,600') to Death Valley (elev -200'), roughly 60 miles and two passes around 3,000 feet, with 3 or 4 people (and on a couple occasions 100-pounds of sand, too), speeds usually 65MPH, and A/C on most afternoons (meaning, on the uphill run), and I can keep our Fit in fifth gear almost all the way home, except when I have to slow down for curves and stops. The only time I ever had issues was coming out of the valley during a 50+MPH windstorm with a full load against the wind -- on that day I occasionally had to use 4th gear to keep speed.
Q: What would be a good semi small sound system for a Honda Fit car?
I'm going to get a Honda Fit. Preferrably the sport model. I want to up the sound system that comes stock but I don't want anything to over the top that takes over a huge amount of space in the car either. Any good ideas?
A: go to crutchfield.com and itll tell you what you need to know
Q: What is the purpose of the circle in the front of the Honda Fit?
I just bought a 2009 Honda Fit and on the driver's side of the front bumper there is a indented outline of a circle. Does anyone know what the purpose of this feature is? The owner's manual does not mention it.
A: The cover pops off and the tow hook that is located in your hatch with your spare tire tools screws onto there.
Q: What are the cargo dimensions of a 2010 Honda Fit?
I am looking for the actual height, width and depth of the cargo area in a 2010 Honda Fit with the rear seats down. I have found that there is 57.3 cubic feet, but unfortunately that does not help. Before I buy the car I would like to know if my skis will fit in the back with the seats down, without bringing my skis to a dealership.
A: how long are your ski's - i have an 07 and i bet i could fit 175's in there
Q: In order to buy a new Honda Fit, one has to wait several months for delivery. What are the possible causes?
(Please select ALL that apply)
1 Honda over-estimated its ability to produce Fits.
2 Honda under-estimated its ability to produce Fits.
3 Demand for the Fit is higher than expected.
4 Demand for the Fit is lower than expected.
5 Honda's price for the Fit is below the equilibrium market price.
A: 2,3,5
Q: What would be better for my money a 2009 honda fit or a 2009 Toyota Corolla?
I am interested in buying a new vehicle and I have researched and am down to three cars. 2009 Honda Fit 2009 Toyota Corolla 2009 Mazda Mazda3. Which one will be most reliable and better for my money?
A: i'd go with the corolla
Q: Can someone explain the paddle shifters on a Honda Fit Sport?
All right, so I'm going to be getting a Honda Fit Sport (2010 model) here pretty soon. I'm going to get the automatic but it has (And I've seen in person) the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. So are these like a clutchless manual? Do I have to choose between automatic, or manual shifting with those? Thanks!
A: the automatic is a 5 speed transmission that will shift on its own as a normal automatic transmission will. for those who feel 'racy' and want to control the shift points the paddle shifters can be used to "flick" through the gears. The automatic transmission control unit will only allow you so much flexibility based on engine speed and transmission gear selection so that you don't over-rev the engine by selecting a downshift at too high an engine speed so it will wait until the engine speed drops into an acceptable range to execute the command from a paddle shift input do downshift.
this is not a clutchless manual. it is a 5 speed automatic transmission that allows you to select the gears if you wish. there is a default automatic mode. if you use the paddle shifters then it goes to manual input with automatic transmission control unit being in control. to enter the manual mode you only need to use the paddle shifter. to exit the manual mode you use the paddle shifter to cancel the manual shifting and re-enter full automatic transmission control.
hope that answers your question
Q: honda fit?!?
is it any good?!
my parents are planning on getting me one and i wanted to know if anyone has one to tell me if they love it or not.
thanks for all the answers so far :)
but just adding that:
im 5'2 and pretty small
A: I have a 2008 Fit Sport with a Manual Transmission, and I LOVE it...
It's great on gas, has lots of room for a car it's size, and fun to drive. My only issues with it were:
Lack of a comfortable place to put your non-driving foot
Lack of an armrest
Both issues have been resolved with aftermarket items, which cost me about $125 bucks...
Something to consider, the manual transmission is much better on gas...and helps in the "zippy" department...
Q: Does the basic model of the 2009 Honda Fit have iPod capabilities?
I am thinking about buying at 2009 Honda Fit but I want the basic model. Is there a plug that I can connect my iPod to and play music through my speakers or does that only come with the sport model?
A: well looks like it does, both standard/sport model. look on the "audio system" category. on "MP3/Auxiliary Input Jack"
you could also use a FM transmitter, but not really recommended since its not gonna be high quality sound. here is the link.
Q: can i trade in a suburban for a honda fit with the cash for clunkers program?
i have a 92 gmc suburban with some damage on the front end from a minor crash. it runs perfectly well, and i have been driving it daily for years since the crash. will i be able to trade it in for a honda fit using the Cash for clunkers program?
A: Yes!!! Those are the type of cars the government wants to take off the roads because the newer cars are better for the environment and buying a new car also helps the dealers sell cars. i took in my uncles old 1985 chevy and it had scratches and a few dents and they still took it.
Q: is it safe to travel in a Honda fit?
I'm planning to travel 1000 miles
Is it safe to cross that distance in a small car like the Honda Fit?
A: I have a Honda Fit and have travelled lots of miles and even used it to pull a utility trailer. My previous Honda was an Insight which is smaller. I was rear ended in the Insight by a 1980's Oldsmobile. He did $2000 in damage to the Insight - did not break glass rear window or tail lights. His Oldsmobile had to be towed - I drove home.
