Q: Jeep Wrangler?
I really want to get a Jeep Wrangler as my first car. but ive heard a lot thats it's not a very good car and its terrible maintenance-wise. is that true????
A: I have owned 5 Jeeps over my life and I have to tell you that I wouldn't own anything else if I could help it. My last wrangler I owned for 10 years and put over 200,000 hard miles on it. (I like to wheel and go to moab often) the key to the longevity of my Jeep was that I took care of it and performed all the maintenance regularly. Right now I own a 95 grand cherokee and have had it for nearly 6 years and it has been an amazing vehicle.
There are years where jeep built a better jeep than others. I would say any wrangler 93 or newer with fuel injection will be a better jeep than a wrangler than one that is older and carburated.
Basically if you buy a new jeep and take care of it, it will last as long as you want. If you buy a used jeep take your time and pick one that looks like it has been taken care of, or what I did was since my wrangler had such high miles I had a maintenance log that showed that I took care of it.
Good luck!!
Q: jeep wrangler?
I hate when other wrangler owners don't do the "jeep wave"! I want to confiscate their jeeps when they don't!
A: Real Jeeps have round headlights...
Q: Jeep wrangler?????????????????????
How are the new jeep wranglers 07-09 alike and different from the older jeep wranglers 97--06
A: The new Jeeps have a 4-door option which the old ones don't. The new ones also get better mpg compared to the old ones and also the old ones have the I-4 which has no power. People who usually own an older jeep take more pride in their rig compared to the new owners. If you are looking for after-market things, I found out that the newer Jeeps have products cheaper than TJ's. For looks, I think the older models look way better than the new ones and who really goes off-roading in a 4-door Jeep? SWB Jeeps can go through pretty much anything while a 4-door jeep has a higher chance of bottoming out.
Q: How much would insurance cost for a jeep wrangler?
I want a jeep wrangler (either yj or tj) and I was wanting to know how much insurance would cost for a new driver (between 16 and 18 years old). I would like a number answer if possible. Just trying to get actual prices. Thanks.
A: I had a 97 Jeep Wrangler with full coverage insurance on it and it cost-ed me $265.00 per month. Wranglers are expensive to insure because they are a high theft vehicle and a roll over risk for young drivers. You can check to see exactly what it would cost you by going to www.progressive.com and entering all your information and requesting a quote. It is a fast and free way to see just how much it will cost you because it is different from state to state. Hope I have been helpful.
Q: Are there ways to reinforce a Jeep Wrangler engine hood so that it could not be broken into?
I am considering buying a Jeep Wrangler for my next car and am worried that engine parts or valuables could be taken due to the ease of opening a Wrangler engine cover. Are there ways to prevent this from happening?
A: Locking hood latches are available for several suppliers. They might help.

Q: Are big and tall people comfortable in Jeep Wranglers? What is the interior like in a Wrangler?
I know that if you're big and tall, some cars work better for you than others.
How is this with regard to the Jeep Wrangler?
A: what are you asking for go to a dealership and sit in one.
Q: How well does an 88 4.2 Jeep Wrangler engine fit into a 95 wrangler, any extra parts or accessories needed?
The engine i want to put in is a 4.2 in line six from a 1988 Jeep Wrangler, i am needing to replace a 2.5 four cylinder for a 1995 Jeep Wrangler, what complications could i come upon with switching these engines out?
A: This isn't a very common swap, going to a 4.0L is better. However if you already have the 4.2L you'll need the tranny, wiring harness, computer, sending unit, exhaust head pipe, motor mounts and possibly gears for your axles depending on what you are doing with the jeep. The 2.5L ran 4.11 gears and the two straight sixes ran somewhere in the 3s. The carbureted motor doesn't get great gas mileage. You don't want the Puegot BA10 that tranny that came in the '88. The Aisin AX-15 is much better however in '92 or '93 the pilot diameter size changed and the reverse gear was beefed up but you'll need a new pilot bearing to run the newer tranny as well as an external slave cylinder. Check out a few jeep forums, some guys do this swap and I've seen a few write-ups about it.
Q: What is wrong with my jeep wrangler heater?
I have a 97 jeep wrangler and when i turn the heater on, it makes a loud vibrating sound. Is this because the heater blower motor is going out? Where can i get an ac system for my jeep too.
A: That sounds like what it is. I had the same thing with my Jeep Cherokee. That can be picked up at your local junkyard or on ebay for $20 bucks or less. It will be a couple bolts and a plug. After that it's smooth sailing! A/C systems are a little harder... You can go to a junk yard and get a used one out of a wrecked wrangler, that is your cheapest bet, all the way to buying the aftermarket version from Jeep and having it installed. That will cost you 1200 to 1500 dollars. I priced out getting used parts for a Chevy aveo and it would have been about $400 for the parts. make sure to buy new hoses regardless as these can go bad over time. Good luck and keep on Jeepin!
Q: How much does it cost to replace a head gasket on a jeep wrangler?
1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ 2.5l 4 cyl 5 speed. I am looking into buying this guy's wrangler but he says it has a coolant leak at the head gasket. Should i not buy this or should i fix it, if i fix it, around how much would a shop charge me.
A: Just to replace the head gasket, change the oil and filter and refill with coolant should be between $525.00 and $700.00 depending on where you take it.
If you do it yourself, you can do it for around $200.00 or so.
I would suggest getting the head reworked while it's off though. This could run another $250.00 or so.
Hope this helps and good luck
Q: Where to get inexpensive electronic key for 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
I recently bought a used Jeep Wrangler and it unfortunately only came with one key and the teeth are somewhat worn so it can be difficult to remove. I have heard there is are cheaper places (other than the dealer) to get new electronic keys. Does anyone know of such a place? I'm afraid they key may get worn to the point where I can't even use it and I would like to have one or two backups.
A: If you have an "electric" chipped key, you will need 2 of the original ones in order to add a 3rd key. It involves the programming. You need to insert the 2 correct ones before programming the 3rd. You can get chipped and unchipped keys from 4wd.com. If you only have one chipped key, you need to go to a dealer, and that's expensive.
Look up 4wd and call them. They are Jeep nutz and they are very helpful.
Q: What exhaust should i put on my 2000 jeep wrangler sport?
I have a 2000 jeep wrangler sport with a 4.0. I have put some money into the look and lift kit and some speakers. My buddy put on flow masters and gets better gas. It sounds ok i want something with a little deeper sound but only want to do a catback. Any ideas of who makes the best?
A: flow amster 44 series of 40 series, i drive a 4.3l GMC jimmy and have a 44 series on her and she sounds like a beast. I suggest you do the same.
Q: Where can I rent a jeep wrangler in the state of Washington?
I want to buy a jeep wrangler but before I do that, I'd love to try driving it around the town and go for a light off roading. Does any major rental rent jeep wrangler in near Seattle area? Thanks for your help.
A: At any Car Rental facility. I suggest looking near the airport.
Q: Is a 2007 4 door jeep wrangler good for offroading?
I know a jeep wrangler is an off roading geared vehicle but what about the 4 door wrangler? Recently ive gone off roading in a 07 4 door wrangler. Nothing on anything to big, just on dirt terrain with some rocks and dirt hills. Anything i should know before i start doing it more?
A: Wranglers are probably the most capable stock off road vehicle made, the four door models are heavier than the two doors and have a lower crossover angle, but are still very capable. Just remember that wheelin' is hard on vehicles, so if you don't have money for repairs, take it relatively easy.
