Q: Mitsubishi?
I am considering purchasing a Mitsubishi automobile. Any tips - positive or negative - are they good and reliable, etc......

A: Mitsubishi is among a stack of good Japanese imports. But it is at the bottom of the stack. That car you saw in front of you that blew blue smoke as it started out from the light...that was a Mitsubishi with about 90,000 miles on it. They are reputed to have a habitual weakness with valve guides. The Dodge you saw doing the same thing...had a Mitsubishi engine. Resale is the worse of the Japanese models. This is fact, not opinion.

Q: What is the difference between Mitsubishi Electric and heavy industry?
There are a lot of companies under Mitsubishi group and I want to know what is the major difference between Mitsubishi Electric Co. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Co. Apart from the products they sell, any major differences between 2 of them? Thanks!

A: Mitsubishi Electric mainly produces small electrical appliances to sell to their customers and heavy industry produces heavy machines viz turbine, large turbo generator, heavy machinery etc.

Q: How much off can a Mitsubishi dealership go down off sticker price for a lancer?
Im trying to buy a mitsubishi lancer gts, i know that the dealers of toyota and honda can go down, but i know nothing about mitsubishi. Jst want to know before i go walking into the dealership.

A: You will be able to get it for invoice minus a current $1500 rebate being offered on the model through 3/31. This would be about $2500 off of the sticker price. For example, if the sticker of Lancer GTS you are purchasing is $21,492, the invoice is $20,369. You pay tax, title, license and registration and doc fee based on the $20,369 and then subtract $1500 off the back end. You are looking at right around $20K out the door. Maybe a little higher depending on the taxes of the state/county where you live.

Q: What differentiates a normal Mitsubishi lancer evolution from an MR?
Im planning on buying a 2005 or 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. However, I see that there is an MR. I would like to know the difference and which one would be good to buy?

A: The MR (at least in the evo x) is the heavier model. it also has some nicer parts but it is to help cut down on weight but the GSR is the lighter vehicle. the MR is has always been the "more luxury" of the evos. back in the evo viii and ix days the RS model was the striped down one with no amenities to save on weight, the GSR was the one most people got and the MR was the high end, even though all had the same engine, HP, and TQ. in the x however, the MR is the automatic, with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. the GSR is a manual. the MR uses 2 piece calipers, lighter rims, and a few other things to try to help cut down the weight, it just so happens that these things also are a nicer product than that of what is on the GSR.

Q: How can i open my mitsubishi gallant door without a battery connected?
I accidentally disconnected my car battery and locked all the doors, does anyone have an idea on how to open my car. The locks are electric and i own a 2002 Mitsubishi Gallant

A: Well, if it's anything like BMWs, they key only turns a SWITCH to unlock the doors, not the lock mechanism itself. So, try the key first. If that doesn't work, and you really want to play around, there are sometimes ways to back feed the electrical system with enough juice to opperate the locks. You need to find a circuit outside the car like parking lights and hope if you feed in 12V, it will hit the distribution box and feed the locks. It's risky and a long shot, but it sometimes works. If not, call a locksmith and they will pop the locks for a nice fee.

Q: What 1997-2002 Mitsubishi car's are good from the list below, why, and what are common problems they have?

Q: How to increase acceleration in my Mitsubishi?
I have a 1998 mitsubishi mirage de that has a 92hp 1.5 liter engine 4 speed automatic. The car is great except for one thing, the engine has no "get up" or acceleration and I want to increase this by even a small margin and relatively cheap. Would a more expensive K & N air filter help or what are some other quick and easy options for a beginner?

A: new spark plugs bosch is good, air filter but i would not go with a k&N here because they are way over priced. K&N oil filter i good for the $. fuel injection cleaner will work wonders, i use prestone. fully sythetic oil is awesome man, try castrol syntech fully sythetic expensive but the best stuff going and you will never go back, it really does unlease the power.. and when changing the oil put i some emgine restorer to take the wear out of the pistons for better compression. you can get a chip for you cars to to program it.

Q: How hard is it to fix a Mitsubishi 50 inch projection tv that has sound but no picture?
Just like the question says, how hard is it to fix a Mitsubishi 50 inch projection tv that has sound but no picture? What would it need? Just a bulb? Would I have to have a specialist to repair it? Thanks!

A: If it is the bulb...It's pretty simple, all you have to do is take off a little tiny square panel board that is secured with like 4 phillip's screws...depending on the type of TV you have. Then you just grab that bulb and pull it out and put in the new one...The bulb itself will run around $80.00-$250.00 or so, depending on the size and brand of your tv. Manual can guide you step by step how to do it.

Q: How much would maintenance cost on a 2003 mitsubishi lancer oz rally?
I have to do a budget analysis for my math class and it is asking me how much would maintenance be for a year on your transportation. I am planning on buying a used 2003 mitsubishi lancer oz rally in the future so on average, how much would maintenance cost?

A: Are you going to do the maintenance yourself or by the mitsu dealer? It's a lot cheaper to DIY than by the dealer. It depends on how often you use the car. A maintenance is required when a specific mileage is reached. So, go to any Mitsubishi dealer's service dept. and check out the maintenance cost for each specific mileage.

Q: how to remove the front grill of a mitsubishi outlander and how to replace the stock horns?
I want to replace the stock horns for my 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander but in order to do so i have to remove the front grill. I have no problems with the electrical stuff but off course I have to be able to remove the old horns i have to access it (it is placed under the front grills). Can anyone send a step by step procedure in removing the front grill, illustrations would help a lot. Thanks!

A: THE MITCHEL CRASH BOOK SHOWS IT ONLY PAYS FOR 2 TENTHS OF AN HOUR [12 MIN. ] TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE GRILLE SO I SUSPECT IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY IT WILL BE EVIDENT HOW THE GRILLE COMES OFF. ONCE YOU REMOVE THE GRILLE THE HORNS SHOULD BE EQUALLY EASY TO REMOVE.

I have to do a budget analysis for my math class and it is asking me how much would maintenance be for a year on your transportation. I am planning on buying a used 2003 mitsubishi lancer oz rally in the future so on average, how much would maintenance cost?

A: The Lancer requires Spark Plug replacement every 15,000 miles, an Oil Change every 3,500 miles, a Coolant Flush and Transmission Fluid Flush at 30,000 mile intervals and a Timing Belt at 60,000 miles. Figure out how much those services cost locally and add er' up.
