Q: subaru....?
i know that everyone have seen the all knew redesign 08 impreza both sedan and wagon...i think subaru just ruin the whole look of a sportier musculine theme compared to their past 03-07 models...just imagine how the STi's goin to look...i think mitsubishi is doing a lot better in redesigning their sportier lancer and lancer evo X...what do yu guys think
A: at first i didnt like it but now i kinda like it. can you imagine the look on peoples face when you pass them in a 4dr wagon lol. i own a 06 sti and i love it but i think the best looking subies would have to be the 04 05 sti. i have been hearing that the new subarus are a little quickier. like a half a second quicker, which sounds nice but i have to see for myself.the new evo is going to have a 6 speed tranny with a audi like feel with the twin clutch setup which sounds nice but i dont know. i am a subie owner and will always choose a subaru over evos. i love the H4 setup and love the sound, it sounds mean. i like everyone above and how they love their subies.
Q: Subaru,!!!!!!!?
Is it ok 2 drive an old Scooby or would u prefer a new 1
A: Hi
The old ones are the best but they will have been heavily mistreated and will probably be in need of an overhaul.
If you buy an old one you need to make sure it has a fully comprehensive service history, including cambelts, and a full MOT, and you want the emissions read out so you can see whats coming out of the exhaust.
Be careful!!

Q: Why is the automatic version of Subaru Legacy 3.0 so slow compared to the manual?
I know that autos are usually a little slower than their manual counterpart, but there is a massive difference for this particular model. For a BMW or jaguar it's less than half a second, for Subarus it's nearly 2 seconds. This also applies to the Forrester 2.5 turbo. Seems to be a Subaru characteristic. Has anyone actually got an automatic subaru? If so is the gearbox noticibly slow and clunky ?
A: i worked at a subaru dealership and i noticed the same thing, it has to do with the fact that the drive by wire throttle is way to slow and the tranny they use is a dog, it was made to be smooth and all that good stuff but i think they went to far
Q: How to rehabilitate a Subaru with a lot of dings?
I have a 2000 white Subaru Outback that has suffered the bangs and scrapes of 7-plus years in New England. It is is good mechanical order, but I need to get the dings out of it, repair a little rust and maybe add a little paint.
I took the car to a body shop and they quoted me approx. $3,000. Where should I go to get this work done more economically?
A: Well part of that is the paint job,and that will probably cost about $1000 of that to get pretty good paint job, (though there are cheaper ones).. you want the good one if you are going to drive it 5 years or more! But if you are only looking at a couple - the cheaper one will probably do ok, especially if you have it apinted teh same color!
It depends on the dents, - how severe and how deep, -- there are people that advertise "paintless ding repair" you can probably find one soomewhere near you. They remove the dents with a sort of "clamp" looking piece of equipment, and do not need to do major body work to get them out this way . The "paintless" removal I don't buy though,-since most "dings" also have paint damage by nature of the body damage! You may be able to get all the "dings" for for a lot less (provided there is nothing severe involved)...
Now as the TV commercial says "BUT WAIT" there's more!
Since you say "New England", - that part of the country uses salt on the roads doesn't it? If you have "rust out'" from salt damage, the rust you see is only the "tip of the iceburg"!
It is possible that it is so rusted out that you would be wasting your money to get it all fixed up so it looks nice! I lived with salt rust for 22 years, - it is almost hopelsss to get toal body rework if it has major rust, as you have to first replace all the rusted metal to make it "stay solid", and then a year or so later it "goes through" somewhere where else and makes it look like junk again! When the first rainy weather of the next fall comes on, the "body putty" starts falling out of the rust holes and rust holes pop up everywhre! So have car checked out very carefuly before you start and see if you can't get some kind of warranty against this happening for a couple years at least! They of course gurantee the paint itself, -- but getting body repairs guranteed is another thing alltogether!
All I am saying is that it might be better to sell this one "as is", and buy another car that doesn't need (and has not had) body repairs! If you reall like the Subaru model you have check out "Craig's List and find one in southern states that hasn't gotten any salt damage! If you want to paint it up like new then, - it will at least stay together for a while so you can enjoy it for a few years! And you may not actually have much more money "tied up" in it after you get all done, -- than you have tied up in an "iffy" one that you already have!
I have "been there and done that",- and seen even more-- in Wisconsin)!
Q: How well does the Subaru Impreza Wrx stand up to the harsh Canadian winters and adverse driving conditions?
I'm looking to buy a used automatic Subaru and would like to just make a well informed decision for my first vehicle.
A: On the Subaru forums, there are quite a few people who use their cars daily in pretty hard winters in Alaska. It really depends on just how cold you are talking but if you use the proper fluids and viscosity, there shouldn't be any problems. They are such reliable cars that I don't see them giving you any problems that other cars won't. And an automatic WRX does have a more complex AWD system than the manuals and they are about the best on the market. I would go for it as long as the car has been maintained properly.
Q: How much is the new Subaru Legacy 2010 in the Philippines?
How much is the new Subaru Legacy 2010 in the Philippines? Anyone know the pricings?

Q: How to install a 1994 subaru svx side mirror?
Does anybody know how to install a new side view door mirror for a 1994 subaru svx? Its an electrical side mirror, and i just bought a replacement one and i want to replace it myself. Thanks!
A: might try asking on a web forum like svxworldforums.com
Q: How do I stop my subaru forrester security system from constantly flashing my hazard lights?
We changed the batterie in my 98 Subaru forrester, and now the lights that flash for the security system wont stop flashing. what do I do?
A: You should be able to push one of the buttons on your key fob to stop it.
Q: How can you tell if your Subaru is equipped with a limited slip rear differential?
I have an 04 Outback Wagon base model with a manual transmission. The owner's manual mentions the limited slip differential (LSD) but implies that this is an optional feature. Is there something on the VIN that would let me know if my Subaru has this? If I crawl under there will it be clearly marked one way or the other? Even if someone knows which subarus got LSD as standard or for which it was an option would be helpful. Thanks!
A: Jack up the rear end (both sides lifted) and hand turn one of the wheels (leave off handbrake). If the other side turns in the same direction it's LSD. Or turn one side while someone holds the other side, if it doesn't move, you have an open differential.
Don't bother with the front because the Outback is not a real 4x4 and the front differential will be an open one.
Q: What kind of mpg do the different Subaru Foresters get?
Hello. I'm planning on buying an '04 Subaru Forester this spring. I'm trying to decide between the standard motor and the XT (turbo). Edmund's suggested that the standard gets roughly 21mpg, while the XT gets 19mpg. I will definitely be getting a manual tranny. Also, Edmund's said that the XT requires Premium gas.
So to those that have these cars... What kind of milage do your really get? And is it really necessary to fill the XT with Premium gas?
Thanks!
A: i have a 2000 legacy 2.5 boxer and if you are concerned with fuel economy do not buy any form of legacy with a boxer engine i find myself tanking it up more often than any man likes to and i would definitely suggest premium gas i tried cheep fuel and when the motor was at higher temps it developed a slight misfire under heavy acceleration
Q: What is more reliable a Subaru 4x4 or a Honda 4x4?
A friend is looking for a new 4 wheel drive. She is looking at a 2007 Subaru Wgn and a Honda CRV 2004. I had problems with Subaru transmissions. You? Suggestions? Thank you.
A: Where does she live? In the great white frozen north?
Subaru has a real go anywhere 4 wheel drive.
Honda's is a 2WD with some minor 4WD assistance to keep you on the road in inclement weather.
Depends on her needs.
Q: How well does a subaru outback do in the mud?
I'm going off roading tomorrow but on a dirt road and it rained all day today, if anyone has a Subaru outback and experience with muddy roads can you let me know how it went? Mine's a 2001 and stick, by the way :)
Thanks!
A: i own a 98 outback wagon and where as i don't go bogging with it i have had the fun of experiencing it in mud after several days of rain. it went well through it, scrubbed the belly pan trying to get out but as long as i kept the RPMs decent and didn't let it stall i went through the mess. granted this was mud that was to become my driveway but still it proved itself. just keep in mind that you have a short bit of clearance, and if you are using the stock tire size then its 70 series tires. so you'll be low to the ground. i installed 75 series tires on mine and gained an inch or better in the clearance. treat it good and don't envision it as a 4x4 mudwaller.
Cheers,
James
Q: what is the difference between the Subaru B9 Tribeca and the regular Tribeca?
Hello, I have been looking at the used Subaru Tribecas, and some of them say B9 Tribeca, and some are just called Tribeca, is there a real difference?
A: It was originally called a B9 Tribeca, but they dropped that part of the name and went with just Tribeca. They are essentially the same vehicle, however, the front grill changed with the 2008 model year (larger grill).
Q: How do I disable the daytime running lights in my 2009 Subaru Impreza?
It's not a WRX or an STI, just the basic model, 4 door. I heard about something behind the glovebox you remove by taking the glovebox out, but it wasn't talking about my model of a Subaru. Is that still the way to do it? Any way I can do it without having to cut anything would be great, I don't want to cut the wrong thing. Thanks in advance.
I don't want people telling me not to. That's not what I'm asking.
A: I did this on my 04 WRX by removing a relay under the hood. Don't know about the newer models. I am sure you can find instructions by searching on the links below.
Q: Is it a good idea to use synthetic oil with a Subaru Outback?
I get my oil changed at a Jiffy Lube type place, and the kid there insists, absolutely insists, that, due to Subaru's "boxer" piston configuration, it's best to use synthetic oil. I can't remember his reasons- something to do with keeping lubrication on the pistons more effectively. Has anyone else heard anything like this?
A: best to use synthetic oil in any motor it doest break down as fast meaning if you replace your oil at 5000 to 8000 miles like most should do that oil wil stil have another 5000 good on it which many synthetic oils good for 10 to 15,000 miles test prove it
manay think you have to change oil at 3000 miles which is wrong that is proven as well just plain oil last 5000 or longer
i change my oil once a year and my car has over 380,000 miles
sure synthetic oils are better than just plain oils
It’s been a misconception for years that engine oil should be changed every 3000 miles, even though most auto manufacturers now recommend oil changes at 5,000, 7,000, or even 10,000 mile intervals under normal driving conditions.
