Q: Why does the check oil light come on in my 2000 Volkswagen Golf TDI?
I checked the oil dipstick three times to be sure and it definitely does have the correct amount of oil. My car is a diesel, not that probably has anything to do with it. But why does the oil light keep coming on when there is enough oil? Is something near it, like the oil pump, broken?
The oil was changed Feb 4th, so less than a month ago. Its synthetic.
A: could be a bad oil sending unit
Q: What's the engine code for a Volkswagen Golf MK4 GT TDI 130bhp?
I am looking to buy a VW Golf MK4 GT TDI 130 bhp, there are so many Golf's claiming to be a 130 bhp model, and I was told that you could spot it by looking at the engine code. I know that the 150 bhp version starts with ARL but what about the 130 bhp version?
A: The engine code for 130 bhp should be ASZ. That's for a MK4 golf TDI 1.9 Litre between 2001 and 2006.
Q: 2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI in 2 door?
Plain and simple:
I know the 2010 golf TDI comes 4 door, but am not sure if it comes in 2 door. I live in Ontario, and can't find a 3 door TDI on the website. Thanks.

Q: 2002 Volkswagen Golf TDI (DIESEL) - Idle Speed Too High?
Hi All,
From time to time, when the engine is warm, the idle speed is too high - around 1100 RPM instead of 950 RPM. It always lasts only around 2-3 minutes and then goes back to the normal range of about 950 RPM.
What is the most probably cause? Any feedback on this issue would be higly appreciated!
THANKS.
A: Mass air flow sensor or throttle position sensor going bad. Outside chance its the temp sensor.
Q: Volkswagen Golf TDI 2002 Starting problems?
I have recently bought a stolen/recovered vehicle at auction. It was sitting at their yard for a long time so no big surprise when battery dead. Tried jump leads, managed to get it going after a few attempts however after a minute or so it cut out. Tried to start again but this time not enough power as small replacement battery used. Tried jump start still no luck although almost got going. Do I just need to get a new fully charged battery or has fiddling with battery etc. put the engine into a locked safe mode? Still turns over although slowly due to battery low, but no real firing even when being connected through jump leads to the battery of an Audi 3.0 TDI. Must be enough power with that?
A: if the battery is that low it will not go even though its being jumped, try a fully charged battery and you might be suprised

Q: What's the difference between the VW Golf "GL TDI" and the "GLS TDI"?
2000 Volkswagen Golf GL TDI
and the
2000 Volkswagen Golf GLS TDI
What's the difference between them?
A: In the US at least, the standard equipment differed. The base GL had manual window regulators vs the power window regulators of the GLS model. In addition, the GLS had a front arm rest, heated mirrors and upgraded interior trim and cruise control. (we are discussing the 2000 Golf GL TDi/GLS TDi)
GLS models had options such as: power sunroof, Monsoon sound system and heated seats, plus optional alloy wheels that weren't available as factory options on the base GL model. Mechanically, the two trim levels are exactly the same; 1.9 turbo diesel motor that generates 90 BHP, with 155 ft.lbs torque @ 1900 rpm.
Hope this helps, a car nut
Q: Volkswagen Golf Gt TDI - lambda sensor problem?
VW Golf GT TDI (end of 2005)Exhaust Emissions Warning Light ?
Exhaust Emissions Warning Light has come on, along with 'emissions, garage'. Is this just a lambda sensor, is it right that there are four of these, two pre catalytics convertor, 2 post cat? I thought deisel engines didn't have cats? Am I doing the car any damage by driving it for a week or two before i get it sorted? Is it true that it will just use more fuel and that it wouldn't pass the mot.
Also, it couldn't just be due to the cold weather at all, could it as it has only appeared in the last few days ince it has got milder (we had minus 10 degrees at new year) and my friend's Audi has done the same thing recently. Any info appreciated - thanks.

Q: Is a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI known as a Golf 6?
For example, on the Top Gear website you can view the review of different types of Golfs such as Golf 5, Golf 6. Golf GTI etc. but theres no TDI model there.
A: They don't really have the TDi's on Top Gear, as Clarkson doesn't like diesel (remeber, he said it's like driving a tractor). But no, the 1.6 does not equal as the mark 6.
Q: What is the MPG for Volkswagen Golf Mk4? 1.9 TDI Diesel?
Hi,
Does any know the mpg for a Volkswagen Golf Mk4? (00-05)
Urban (mpg) :
Extra-urban (mpg) :
Combined (mpg)
Many thanks.
A: These figures are fine, but it depends entirely on the model you have and how you drive. There are several variants of the Mk4 1.9 TDi, and surprisngly some of the more powerful ones can be more economical than the lowest versions. The numbers I am telling you here are for a GT TDi 115BHP
On long journeys if you keep to sensible speeds you ought to get near 60mpg, and 50 is achievable even if you have a slightly heavier foot. If you drive short distances etc I have never managed to get less than 40mpg. In the winter I use heavy snow and mud tyres on winter wheels, and that drops the economy significantly.
SO none of these numbers mean much to you as they stand. Make sure the tyres are pumped up. DOnt carry heavy junk in the boot unless you need to take it with you. If you use roof rails take themn off when you dont need them. Keep the car serviced and especially the air filters as a clogged one will affect performance and economy. Many services suggest inspection of the air filter. For a few pounds it is always worth changing at least once a year whether it needs it or not! Those things will get you close to manufacturers figures if you drive sensibly.

Q: I can't decide between the Volkswagen Jetta TDI or Golf TDI?
Hi, I am in the middle of deciding between these two cars. Some people have simply said, "If you like a hatch, get the Golf, if you like a sedan, get the Jetta." Somehow, I don't think it's as simple as this. Are there any other subtle differences, especially in the way they both drive? Some have said that the Golf gets them better mpg, even though they are both rated the same (30 city, 42 hwy). But the Golf is only about 170 lbs. lighter.
Regardless of which one I get, it'll be the manual transmission. (But once again, they're both the same! 6 speed!)
I appreciate you feedback.
A: Do you want a hatchback or a trunk? They are the exact same car except for the body. Drive both, then make your decision. Paralysis of analysis reigns supreme here.
Q: How long do the VW TDI Diesel engines last for generally ?
