Cornford Press has as its main emphasis the publishing of poetry by Tasmanians or with a Tasmanian connection. It also publishes both prose and poetry from elsewhere and distributes a selection of books by other publishers.

Cornford Press operates without any government subsidy and its books are designed, typeset and printed in Tasmania.
