Read This Before You Buy a New Car!
If it's about time to get a new car, chances are there are many options for you in this consumer's market. Getting a good deal for a new car isn't as complicated as it used to be. The first thing is to do your research on what kind of cars are there and how reliable they are. Most car companies have their established advantages. European cars tend to be about engineering and performance while Japanese cars seem to be more of comfort and mileage. The Korean car companies have had a surge on having models that are reasonably price, reliable and have great after sales services or warranty periods. The choices are up to you. You can check the reviews all you want online and go through the many blogs of different brands of cars. In the end, you still have to make the trip to the car lot, see if you get a great deal to trade in your car, and then do the rounds of looking at the new models available.
It is best if you have a good driving record in order to pay less insurance. In some areas like San Diego, California, the regulations against Driving under the Influence are so stringent that if cited, you may have to hire a local San Diego drunk driving attorney because of the implications of the charge. You wouldn't want to have a permanent record or be convicted of such a charge, so the basic rule of thumb of Don't Drink and Drive applies. Having an unblemished record also improves your insurance premium rates and makes it easier for you to purchase the right vehicle. Here are some other things to consider when purchasing a brand new vehicle:
- Mileage versus Comfort. It used to be that these two were on opposite parts of the spectrum. These days they are not. There are very good cars that get great mileage per gallon. Of course the compact, sub-compact and mid size have better mileage than the full size and SUVs primarily because of their engine displacement. If you are very environmentally conscious, then get a hybrid that runs both on fuel and electricity.
- Foreign versus Domestic. These days a lot of the local American Car Brands are in trouble and most Japanese cars as well as Korean cars have car plants in the United States so it can happen that buying a Toyota, Nissan, or Hyundai might just be helping the American Economy. Do your research online and test drive the vehicle brands you are interested in. This way, the final decision belongs to you.
